School bus services
The Department of State Growth contracts 106 bus operators to deliver 349 school services.
These Long Term contracts are 5 + 5 year, and run until the end of the school year in 2029.
The Review delivered the Government’s election commitment to recontract incumbent bus where key performance conditions are met and there is an ongoing need for the service.
Operator updates are included in the Transporter newsletter, distributed quarterly to all contracted bus operators.
The decision to contract new services or vary existing services is subject to Service Eligibility Guidelines (PDF 114.0 KB).
This is a requirement of the Passenger Transport Services Act 2011.
The Minister for Infrastructure approved these Guidelines for the Bus Services Review project.
Now the Review is complete, the Department will assess Guidelines to ensure they meet ongoing operational requirements.
