For standard vehicles. Such as cars, caravans, and trailers, and heavy vehicles that meet vehicle standards.

How to register a vehicle with standard registration

  1. Have the vehicle inspected.

    AA Inspection, at an Approved Inspection Station (AIS). You can find a map of AIS locations here. Interstate inspection reports are not accepted.

  2. Visit Service Tasmania with:

Identification

For individuals:

  • Tasmanian Driver Licence, or Evidence of identity (EOI) for intended registered operators.
  • Agent Authority (if applicable)

For Company, Incorporated Association, Co-operative/Mutual Enterprise:

Agent Authority

You will need ‘Agent Authority’ if:

  • an agent or representative is presenting on behalf of a:
    • company, incorporated association, incorporated/Mutual enterprise or,
    • an individual.

If you are unable to provide the required EOI please visit the Proving your identity page or call 1300 135 513.

Registration Paperwork

  • Passed Inspection report (AA or HV inspection) with the reverse application for registration completed
  • proof of entitlement (sale receipt)

For Heavy vehicles (GVM over 4.5t)
