Wivenhoe Underpass
We are strengthening bridges around Tasmania to make sure they stay safe and efficient for heavy vehicles and the broader community.
We will be repairing and strengthening the Wivenhoe Underpass on the Bass Highway.
A tender for construction was advertised in December 2024 and then re-advertised, once a contract has been awarded, we will let you know the construction schedule. Construction is expected to start in mid-2025.
These works are being completed as part of the Tasmanian Government’s Freight Capacity Upgrade Program (FCUP).
FCUP supports the productivity of freight vehicles by improving the roads and bridges they travel on day to day. Repairing and strengthening these sections of road will:
The Australian and Tasmanian Governments have committed combined funding of $100 million towards the FCUP program.
