Birralee Road Upgrades
We will be widening, shoulder sealing and upgrading the surface of Birralee Road as part of the Northern Roads Package.
Widening and sealing shoulders provides a safe and efficient road and allows additional space for drivers to regain control, reducing road crashes.
The Birralee Road Upgrades project has been split into three sections:
Work to upgrade the southern section of Birralee Road (between Roxford Avenue and Brushy Rivulet) has been completed.
Designs are continuing for the northern section of Birralee Road, from Brushy Rivulet to Priestleys Lane and from Priestleys Lane to Frankford Road junction.
Consultation with landowners on the northern section is continuing, with discussions around acquisition and TasNetworks easements ongoing. Detailed designs will be shared with landowners as the design develops.
We are continuing to engage with impacted landowners on both Birralee Road and Frankford Road.

Northern Roads Package stage one is a series of road upgrades including road widening, shoulder sealing, and surface upgrades, planned for key interregional freight linkages through the Batman Highway, Birralee Road, and Frankford Road.
Upgrades are planned in the following locations:
