Allans Creek Bridge
We are strengthening bridges around Tasmania to make sure they stay safe and efficient for heavy vehicles and the broader community.
We will be repairing and strengthening Allans Creek Bridge on the Arthur Highway.
Construction started on the Allans Creek Bridge on the Arthur Highway, Taranna, on Monday, 4 November 2024 and we are working between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
The speed limit will be reduced to 40 km/hr through the project site and 20 km/hr on the bridge itself.
We expect to complete this work in late April 2025.
Where a Transport Escort for an OSOV vehicle is required, written confirmation of an agreement between the operator and the site supervisor is required 24 hours prior to travel. If you do not send written confirmation, some of the bridge sites will not be accessible for OSOM vehicles.
Long term lane closures are planned for this bridge 24 hours a day. These long-term lane closures are required to facilitate the work at this site. We need to remove the deck of the bridge and install carbon fibre rods into the bridge deck, then reinstate the asphalt.
One lane will be open at all times to allow traffic through, but please expect delays.
These works are being completed as part of FCUP.
FCUP supports the productivity of freight vehicles by improving the roads and bridges they travel on day to day. Repairing and strengthening these sections of road will:
