About the project

The proposed pathway would be for walking, wheeling, and riding, and would have sections of both paved and unpaved pathway.

It would improve access and connection with existing off-road paths. It would increase safety and encourage walking, wheeling and riding (i.e. active transport) in the area, by providing an alternative to the Channel Highway as a route between Margate and Huntingfield.

This study considers a shared pathway but we understand that cyclists may still wish to use the Channel Highway. This study does not rule out further upgrades on the Channel Highway that may also promote active transport options.

This consultation was for the feasibility study only. Construction of this pathway project has not been funded but this study and your feedback will be used to help us and Kingborough Council make future funding decisions to progress the design development and construction of this pathway.

Community consultation

Community consultation on the proposed shared pathway closed on Wednesday, 9 November 2022.
